The Chief Minister's Ferocious Wife

Chapter 23

Is He Really Your Brother?

Life in Lengshui Village went back to normal after the Feng Village guards took their leave.

Zhao Chuchu walked into the village, Xie Heng’s arm entwined with her own. “The pandemic is a very bad thing.”

“Thank goodness we have you,” Xie Heng said, turning his head to look at her. “Otherwise, this village would be empty by now.”

“Haha, no worries. Don’t worry about it,” Even though Zhao Chuchu sounded very modest, her face revealed how proud of herself she was.

Saving the lives of other people was very rewarding.

Although annoying cockroaches were jumping around, it didn’t stop her from feeling happy.

As a military doctor, she always kept her job requirements in mind. She knew the difference between her sense of duty and her grudges. She wouldn’t show mercy or kindness to people who tried to hurt her.

“You have a way of saving Junjun?”

“Of course, I never lie when it comes to medical issues. However...”

“What’s wrong?”

Zhao Chuchu pondered for a while about how she should put this. She said, “Junjun was completely fine before. How did he contract this kind of illness?”

“This kind of illness?” Xie Heng’s heart skipped a beat, but it didn’t show on his face.

“How should I put this... Is Junjun your brother? He’s just a kid. How did he get poisoned?”

“Poisoned? Are you sure?”

“I am sure. Please don’t doubt my ability as a doctor!”

Xie Jun could only have ingested this kind of poison while in his mother’s womb.

Her healing powers could only cure diseases and heal wounds. They were not effective against poison.

Upon discovering that Xie Jun had been poisoned, she carefully examined him and Xie Heng. Since they were brothers, they should at least have some of the same traits.

But these two people didn’t look anything alike.

It was interesting.

Who would poison a child from an ordinary family?

“Junjun is my brother,” Xie Heng looked at Zhao Chuchu for quite a while before answering, “Please don’t make wild speculations. When my mother was pregnant with him, she almost died because she accidentally ate some wild fruits from the mountain.”

“Oh, what wild fruits? Can I have a look?”

“I was still a kid back then, so I don’t know the details. All I know is that she was severely ill for some time.”

Zhao Chuchu looked at Xie Heng. His face was calm, and it didn’t seem like he was lying.

Zhao Chuchu, on the other hand, didn’t think this had much to do with her. No matter what, the person who occupied this body before her didn’t have any family.

If murder wasn’t illegal, she would have poisoned and killed the entire Zhao Family.

She didn’t care if she got in trouble for helping Xie Jun.

If someone wants something, he must offer something else in exchange.

It would be a fair trade.

Xie Heng wasn’t a terrible person, but he was very cunning and ruthless. Zhao Chuchu didn’t want to become enemies with him.

“It will be harder to cure Junjun, but don’t worry about it. I can assure you that he will be healthy again. He’ll be active and energetic like all the other children!” Zhao Chuchu promised Xie Heng. “Hold on to the divorce letter for now. Give it to me when the suitable time comes.”

Xie Heng nodded and said, “Thank you.”

She smiled and said, “We’re together now, so there’s no need to thank me.”

They walked into the village together as they talked.

“Chuchu is back?”

“Chuchu is thinner than she used to be!”

“Chuchu is so amazing.”

As the couple made their way back to the Xie family, many villagers fawned over Zhao Chuchu.

Zhao Chuchu’s face was expressionless. She completely ignored them.

The people who chanted the loudest were the villagers who had tried to kill her back then!

Now that she was famous in Yuanjiang County, the villagers were all sucking up to her. Foll𝑜w current novℯls on nov𝒆lb((in).(com)

The grandmother of the person who used to inhabit Zhao Chuchu’s body came over, smiling respectfully. “Chuchu, you’re finally back! Grandma missed you. Come home with Xie Heng first. Granny will kill a chicken for you guys to eat tonight.”

The look on Xie Heng’s face turned cold. “Get out of the way!”

“You must be tired,” Madam Yang tried to touch Xie Heng. “Come, I’ll help you walk, let’s go home.”

Zhao Chuchu pulled Xie Heng behind her and looked at Madam Yang. “What are you trying to do?” She asked.
