My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 313 Goalless

The match continued with FC Basel trying to get a goal, get the equalizer to be specific and Unique FC on the other hand were looking for a second goal to seal the game for them.

FC Basel were doing quite well with keeping hold of the ball and moving it around as quickly as possible, but they were not doing that well in creating chances and putting pressure on Unique FC's defense now that Henrique was not finding it that easy to get past Roland.

Henrique received the ball from one of the wingers and without further ado, he quickly began to move toward Roland with it while Ferran was quickly heading toward him.

He could have passed the ball before Ferran got close to him, but he decided to hold on to it, and after a few seconds of struggling to not lose the ball to the two teammates, Roland sent the ball out for a throw-in.

"Looks like that's a throw-in against Unique FC," Jim commented.

All of his teammates were being marked quite well, so the midfielder had to throw the ball to the right back who quickly sent the ball flying to the other side to find Reto.

"Switch of play to the other side."

Reto was not being marked near the center of the pitch so he didn't have any trouble bringing the ball down with his chest and trapping it under his foot.

He switched places with the midfielder that was supposed to be there, well, not technically, he wanted to drop deep so the midfielder had to move forward a little.

The right winger scanned the area with his eyes until he found Hans moving toward the box and quickly floated the ball over the top for him.

Unfortunately for Hans, Adolf was right there to nod the ball toward Dave before he could do anything with it.

"Once again, Adolf has stepped up to prevent an incoming aerial danger, he's fighting hard in this match.

Dave caught the ball heading toward him, and without hesitation, he quickly threw it to Minino who Reto was heading toward now.

The ball got to the Midfielder before Reto could get to him and after bringing it down, he quickly pushed the ball to Carlos who was already heading down the wing with a flick just before Reto could get to him from behind.

"Carlos."This chapter is updat𝓮d by nov(e)(l)biin.com

Carlos received the ball and quickly headed down the wing with defenders still in the area.

He knew getting past them was going to be difficult so he had to trap back and pass the ball to Minino so that they could slowly come up with something.

"Back to Minino."

Reto quickly rushed to the midfielder to try and dispossess him of the ball from behind but Minino already knew that he was going to try something like that, and just before he could get to him, he passed the ball to Frankie who had climbed a little upward to the center of the pitch.

"Frankie."

Franked moved further down with the ball and just before running into the midfielder heading toward him, he passed the ball to Ferran on the left.

"Unique FC are slowly building up their play."

Ferran was in a bit of a tricky position so he had to quickly push the ball to Roland to avoid losing it.

Roland left his position to move up a little and assist in the attack in any way he could, and now that Ferran had given him the ball, he zoomed off down the wing.

"Roland."

There were two players in the area but he dribbled past them like they were nothing.

He seemed to have pushed the ball a bit too much in the process and now it was about to roll past the line.

The left-back quickly got to it with a slide and sent it flying into the box.

"Nice cross from Roland can anyone capitalize on it?!"

Mateo contested for the ball in the air but aerial duels weren't exactly the winger's strong forte so the defender ended up nodding the ball back toward the edge of the box.

"That was clumsy, Ferran is at the edge of the box."

Ferran waited for the ball to get closer before he pulled his leg back to kick it, but in the process of kicking it, he was pushed from behind and the result of that misdirection as the ball was sent rolling out of play from the right side.

"I think he could have done pretty well with that ball if he wasn't pushed," Steve commented.

The midfielder sat up on the floor and raised his hand to appeal for a foul, but the referee wasn't buying it as he signaled Filip to send the ball out while slowly moving back.

"I guess the referee didn't see it as a foul," Jim said.

"Damn it, this is the reason why we lose some matches." Ferran pouted before quickly getting up from the floor.

FC Basel were pretty close to getting that equalizer in the eighty-eight minute after Dave blocked a close-up shot from Reto with his legs on the left side and the rebound was sent rolling toward Reto who was there to send it back toward the goalpost with just a single touch but luckily for the Bilbeth Premier League side, Adolf was there to block the ball with his legs and the rebound was quickly cleared by Roland to make sure their lead stayed safe.

FC Basel really fought hard to get that equalizer and Unique FC fought hard to get the second goal, but in the end, none of them were able to get a goal in the second half as the referee blew his whistle thrice to bring the match to an end to the relief of Unique FC players who had begun to feel the pressure of FC Basel's attack during the last minutes of the match.

"There's the whistle, it is all over but not exactly over as only one goal separates these teams on aggregate so a comeback might be possible in the second leg but that's going to be something tough for FC Basel to do at the Wondanimo." Jim articulated.

"It's still very much possible though."

"Yeah, I know," Jim said. "As expected, Adolf is the man of the match."

"Yeah, he was the key player for Unique FC here today, making interceptions here and there, aerial interceptions, good passes, and that save in the eighty-fifth minute was insane." Steve expressed.

While his teammates walked over to applaud their fans who came to Switzerland to watch them play, Dave was still standing in front of his goalpost with an expressionless look on his face.

[ Quest failed ]

[ You failed to score a goal from your side before the Seventy-fifth minute ]

That message has been on his screen for a while but he refused to look at it until now.

'I thought I was going to get lucky with the second one but it was like he was ready for it.' He said subconsciously.

<Of course he was going to be ready for it, you had to wait for him to get to the edge of his box, shooting from afar works best when they're far away from their goalpost so you can put it in from the top or when you're going up against a bad goalkeeper>

The goalkeeper was still having his mind conversation with Catherine when somebody pulled up in front of him, and when he raised his gaze to see who it was, he could see that it was FC Basel's goalkeeper, Filip.

"Oh, hey, there," Filip said before putting on a smile.
